Teh Ais

Teh Ais in Sanggetha's Curry House, MMU

There will often be many days where you ponder upon the meaning of life. What is the main reason of living? Are we destined to achieve great things in life or are we just ordinary souls living a monotonous life? But then, there may be days where we actually figure out what we want to do with ourselves or just experience temporary bliss in accordance with an unexplained lapse of memory. What then could be the possible cause of such an euphoric moment? It is plain and simple. It is none other than 'Teh Ais'.

But isn't the Teh Ais just another drink commonly found in 'mamak' stores? That is up for you to judge. This isn't just a drink; it is a solution, a drug, an addiction (a good one) in resolving all life's problems at least for a while. This "drink" must be from the heavens. Although it may be a simple one to prepare but the combination of tea, delicately poured-into condensed milk, teaspoons of sugar and the drops of ice cubes is to die for.

The Teh Ais isn't only a drink to soothe our often dry throats or to put aside our problems. It is more than that. It is a symbol of unity. How often do we meet up with our old buddies for a chat and not order Teh Ais? Almost never. It is the drink of unity; the drink of friendship. And if you are puzzled or annoyed as to why you have read this incredibly nonsensical post, maybe you should have a Teh Ais. You will feel better, trust me. =D
